President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his commitment in making Southeast great again in line with his administration’s policy of carrying every part of the country along.

This is even as the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has commended Governor Alex Otti for reconstructing Port Harcourt Road Aba, describing the project as “legendary.”

Tinubu made this known while speaking at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, during a civic reception organised in his honour by the state government.

Represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi the President made clear his administration’s resolve in helping the state’s to be viable.

He listed some of the projects he has done in the southeast, to include ensuring the completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, the federal government’s intervention in opening up development and boosting economic activities in the region.

Tinubu disclosed that Abia among other states has gained so much from the removal of oil subsidy, noting with joy that Aba, the commercial nerve of the state was regaining its lost glory through the impact of the leadership of the governor of the state.

While stating that Abia State remains important in the economic development of the country, the President noted that the economy of the country is gaining momentum under his watch with the increase in the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) and decrease in inflation rate, and informed that the worst economic situation of the country was over.

Tinubu promised to help Abians to take back their state, and thanked southeast governors for their unity in supporting his administration.

Governor Otti commended President Tinubu over his economic policies which he said have positively impacted on the economy of the country.

Otti eulogized the President for giving Abians the opportunity to serve in his administration and pleaded for a functional Southeast and South-south rail line and sea ports to boost trade in the region.

Otti disclosed that he and other Southeast governors were in constant discussion with the President on the release of the detained leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu pleaded with the President for the establishment of a seaport in the southeast to further enhance business and economic activities in the region.

Kalu commended Gov. Otti for the job he has done in the state, and asked him to do more.

He frowned at the recent demolition of shops and buildings of some Nigerians and the Igbo in Lagos by the Lagos State government.

Some of the projects commissioned by President Tinubu during the visit include the 6.7km Port Harcourt 3 lanes carriageway, Ohanku, Ndoki, Ajiwe, Umuatako, and Gabriel Nwosu Roads and Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs.

President Tinubu who had earlier commissioned the remodelled Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, was later conferred with the chieftaincy title of Udo Kpu Enyị 1 of Abia by the leadership of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council.

Meanwhile, ex-Senate President, Wabara has described Otti as a history maker by reconstructing Port Harcourt, Aba that was abandoned over the years.

Senator Wabara made the commendation in a goodwill message when President Tinubu inaugurated the road and other key projects executed by Gov. Otti..

Wabara, who is also the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, recalled that some persons had attempted, but failed to make political capital out of his earlier fair comments when Gov. Otti awarded contract for the reconstruction of the road he said is strategic to the economic development of the city.

Wabara said he had been vindicated by the successful completion of the road project which according to him, will help boost economic activities not only in Aba but the entire state.

He thanked Otti for laying a foundation for “a New Abia”, adding that the hitherto negative perception about the state is fast changing.
