President Bola Tinubu in a glowing tribute to Chairman of Globacom and Conoil, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., on the occasion of his birthday, lauded his monumental contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and nation-building.
In a statement he personally signed and released on April 28, 2025, ahead of Adenuga’s birthday on April 29, President Tinubu said, “I congratulate Dr. Mike Adenuga as he marks his birthday. His life, from humble beginnings, is a testament to the power of vision and the outcome of resilience.”
He described Adenuga’s journey as one marked by humility and diligence, which propelled him to success in multiple sectors including banking, telecommunications, oil, and gas.
Highlighting Adenuga’s pioneering role in the telecommunications industry, Tinubu noted, “Nigerians will always appreciate Globacom’s ingenuity in disrupting the billing template by pioneering per-second billing, expanding telephony and digital access to millions of Nigerians.”
He added that Adenuga’s Conoil stands as proof that indigenous firms can compete with international oil companies, thereby fostering Nigeria’s energy independence and security.
The president also praised Adenuga’s philanthropic efforts, stating, “Beyond his business achievements, Dr. Adenuga’s philanthropy, through the Mike Adenuga Foundation, has touched many lives-supporting tertiary education, healthcare, and cultural advancement across our nation.”
Tinubu further commended Adenuga’s bold expansion beyond Nigeria, saying, “I commend you for extending your investments to other African countries and Europe, a bold effort which earned you well-deserved honours as Commander of the Legion of Honour (France) and Ghana’s Companion of the Star of Ghana.”
