President Bola Tinubu has mandated a full security cordon around the forests in Kwara State following a surge in kidnappings and terrorist activities in the region.
According to Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the President, Sunday Dare, via his verified X handle (formerly twitter) @SundayDareSD, the directive was promptly issued to intensify efforts against threats.

President Tinubu also instructed the Nigerian Air Force to expand its air surveillance to cover the deepest parts of Kwara forests believed to harbor terrorist elements. “The air force is to maintain 24-hour surveillance and coordinate closely with ground security posts,” Dare tweeted, emphasising the government’s commitment to eradicating terror hideouts.
The security order extends beyond Kwara, covering regions in Kebbi and Niger states, where operations aim to rescue hostages and restore safety.
Dare appealed to local communities to assist security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities. “Communities are urged to report any strange movements to aid the work of the security forces,” he said
