President Bola Tinubu has nominated Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), pending Senate confirmation.

The nomination, announced in a State House press release by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday, is to fill the vacancy left by Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned after about 14 months in office.

President Tinubu forwarded a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio today, urging expeditious approval in line with Section 3(2) of the NAHCON Act, 2006.

A seasoned career diplomat, Yusuf served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Türkiye from 2021 to 2024.
