President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Sheikh Mainasara Liman Habibi, a prominent Islamic preacher based in Zaria, who passed away at the age of 67 over the weekend. Sheikh Habibi was the National Chairman of the Preachers Committee of the Fityanul Islam under the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood.

In a statement by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Sheikh Habibi as a committed cleric who dedicated his life to promoting Islamic scholarship and service to humanity.

“Muslims will remember Sheikh Habibi for his teachings that emphasized religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and unity beyond doctrinal differences,” he said.

The President extended his condolences to the Kaduna State government, the Zazzau Emirate Council, and the Tijjaniyya Brotherhood leadership, praying for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the late cleric.

Sheikh Habibi was widely respected for his advocacy for orphans and vulnerable people and for championing Quranic translation and Islamic jurisprudence.
