President Bola Tinubu has expressed grief over the death of Otunba Adekunle Ojora, Lagos-born industrialist, business tycoon and community leader who died at age 93.

He also sent condolences to Super Eagles captain, Wilfred Ndidi, over the tragic death of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who died in a road crash in Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State, on Tuesday.

According to a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commiserated with the Lagos State government, Ojora’s immediate family, the Ojora and Adele royal families, and his wide network of business associates.

He described the late mogul’s life as a testament to humility, perseverance, hard work, tenacity, and generosity—qualities that propelled his success across public service, journalism, and the private sector.

He noted that Ojora, a trained journalist from Regent Polytechnic in London, started his career as an assistant editor at the BBC in the early 1950s. Upon returning to Nigeria, he joined the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation as a reporter before transitioning to business. He rose swiftly at the United Africa Company of Nigeria (UAC), becoming its Public Relations Manager and, by 1962, one of the youngest executive directors in the conglomerate’s history.

Tinubu praised Ojora’s enduring influence as a boardroom heavyweight and advisor to national and subnational governments on institutional sustainability.

“His passing is a huge loss to Nigeria, our private and public sectors, and traditional institutions,” the President stated, praying for the repose of Ojora’s soul and comfort for his loved ones.

In another statement, condoled with Ndidi, Nigerian international midfielder currently starring for Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas.

Tinubu expressed profound sorrow, saying: “I am deeply saddened by the tragic death of Sunday Ndidi. I share in the grief of his family, friends and associates, particularly Wilfred Ndidi, who shared a strong bond with his father as a mentor and guide in his remarkable career as an exceptional footballer.”

He highlighted Sunday Ndidi’s influence, noting: “There is no doubt that Sunday’s modest beginnings and honesty greatly impacted those who looked up to him for inspiration.”

Tinubu prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, urging God Almighty to grant eternal repose to the soul of the departed.
