President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission (ACFM) and former chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, Rev. William Okoye.

In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his “heartfelt condolences” to the family, friends and associates of the cleric, saying the nation has lost a man of “deep faith and principle”.

“As a cleric who held several important positions in Christian organisations in Nigeria, Rev. Okoye earned the trust and admiration of his followers and the nation beyond the pulpit,” the President said. He highlighted Rev. Okoye’s service as Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel during the administrations of Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, noting that the cleric “greatly contributed to the spiritual growth and well-being of Christians under his pastoral care”.

Tinubu also recalled Okoye’s wider public service, citing his roles on the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission.

“From his service as a member of those bodies, Rev. Okoye dedicated himself to building a better society,” the President said.

Praying for the cleric’s eternal rest, Tinubu prayed to the Almighty to “grant comfort and strength to his family, ACFM, and all who mourn this loss.”
