Tinubu hosts Makinde, Mutfwang at Aso Rock amid political buzz

From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja

President Bola Tinubu is currently holding meetings with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The governors arrived at separate times, sparking speculation about whether the president is engaging them individually or together.

Makinde, a second-term Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor, remains a focal point in political discourse after hinting at a potential 2027 PDP presidential bid. During a recent media chat in Ibadan, he voiced regret over backing Tinubu in the 2023 election, saying the outcome had “fallen short of the expectations of Nigerians.” He added that his support “did not deliver the results I had hoped for.”

Meanwhile, Mutfwang’s recent defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC) makes this his first meeting with the president since switching parties.
