First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has hailed Governor Hope Uzodimma for opening Imo State to the world through massive infrastructure development and improved connectivity, saying the transformation is positioning the state as an attractive investment destination.
She said the administration’s drive to improve access by land, air and sea had enhanced Imo’s visibility and created opportunities capable of attracting local and international investors.
The First Lady spoke yesterday during an empowerment programme in the state, where 2,500 women and vulnerable persons benefited from various interventions aimed at improving their livelihoods and strengthening their economic independence.
Oluremi Tinubu urged Uzodimma to sustain the transformation, saying the development initiatives had placed Imo on a stronger footing for investment and economic growth.
She also commended the governor for complementing infrastructure development with programmes targeted at women and vulnerable residents, stressing the importance of ensuring that ordinary people benefited from development.
The empowerment programme drew beneficiaries from across the state and provided support intended to strengthen businesses, promote self-reliance and improve household incomes.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, said the intervention was part of efforts by the Federal Government to empower women at the grassroots.

Imo State First Lady, Chioma Uzodimma, also welcomed the initiative, saying it would improve the economic wellbeing of women and other beneficiaries.
Uzodimma, meanwhile, used the occasion to reaffirm Imo’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The governor said the state had benefited from the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration and expressed confidence that the people would continue to support the President.
He said sustaining cooperation between the state and Federal Government would help consolidate ongoing development and reforms.
Earlier, Oluremi Tinubu visited the palace of the Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, where she was received by prominent traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, Obi of Onitsha and Dein of Agbor.
The traditional institution conferred on her the title, “Oso Di Eme,” meaning “a supportive wife,” in recognition of her contributions to nation-building and support for the administration of President Tinubu.
The programme at Ndubuisi Kanu Square attracted hundreds of women as well as wives of governors and serving and former federal and state lawmakers.
