President Bola Tinubu has officially welcomed the Senate’s swift approval of General Christopher Musa (retd) as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence.

In a statement personally signed and posted on his verified X account @officialABAT on Thursday, Tinubu expressed appreciation for the Senate’s prompt action, highlighting the urgency of this appointment amid Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges.

“Two days ago, I transmitted the name of General Christopher G. Musa, our immediate past Chief of Defence Staff and a fine gentleman, to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation as the Federal Minister of Defence.

“I want to commend the Nigerian Senate for its expedited confirmation of General Musa yesterday. His appointment comes at a critical juncture in our lives as a Nation. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the President affirmed.

The Senate, on Wednesday, confirmed Musa, who recently served as Chief of Defence Staff, as the new Minister of Defence, marking an important step in Nigeria’s security leadership.
