President Bola Tinubu has congratulated President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, after he was re‑elected to the Board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management for another two years.

He framed the re‑election as both personal recognition for Neliaku and a win for Nigeria’s soft‑power credentials.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, yesterday, the president described the outcome of the Prague, Czech Republic’s board election as a remarkable endorsement of Neliaku’s professional competence, visionary leadership and commitment to advancing ethical and strategic public relations practice both in Nigeria and abroad.

Neliaku secured the renewed mandate during the Global Alliance’s annual general meeting in Prague, beating contenders from member nations around the world in what the presidency called a “keenly contested election.”

President Tinubu said the re‑election reinforces Nigeria’s growing influence in global communication circles and reflects the high standards and reputation of Nigerian professionals on the international stage.

He paid tribute to Neliaku’s work of promoting excellence, transparency and innovation in public relations and communication management.

“I wish you continued success in your renewed mandate to the global public relations community,” the president was quoted as saying. “I assure you that the Federal Government will continue to support initiatives aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s image and professional standing worldwide.”

NIPR, which champions professional standards and ethics for practitioners in Nigeria, has in recent years prioritised international engagement.
