President Bola Tinubu has praised former President Goodluck Jonathan’s humility and statesmanship, particularly recalling his composed leadership during the 2015 presidential election as he marks his 68th birthday, highlighting his contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and nation-building.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu underscored the significance of Jonathan’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development and his ongoing influence in leadership circles.
“His demonstration of humility and statesmanship during that election strengthened our democracy and earned Nigeria pride on the international stage,” Tinubu stated.

The President also reflected on his personal interactions with Jonathan, recalling their meetings and the support he received from the former leader. “Support and counsel from Dr Jonathan played a significant role in my own political journey, especially in 2010 and the 2011 presidential election,” Tinubu remarked.
He emphasised that Jonathan’s diplomatic efforts continue to serve as an inspiration, particularly his current international responsibilities promoting democratic values across Africa.
President Tinubu extended his best wishes for Jonathan’s health and happiness, also praying for the well-being of his wife, Patience, and his family.
