Tinubu fulfills promise to D’Tigress

D’Tigress’ Women Basketball World Cup Qualifying campaign received a major boost after they took possession of promised Presidential rewards for emerging as African champions.

Nigerian government officials presented the players and their technical crew certificates for National honours and title documents to houses allocated to the squad in Abuja by President Bola Ahned

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko and the Director General, Hon Bukola Olopade alongside other top Government officials made the presentation to the team today in Lyon, France venue of the Qualifying.

The Chairman also assured the ladies that cash award promised the team by the President was almost in the final stage for disbursement and that it will soon drop into their respective bank Accounts.

D’Tigress coach Rena Wakama said they were eternally grateful to President Tinubu for the show of love and support, assuring the country that there is more to come from her team.

Team Captain Amy Okonkwo also expressed gratitude to Mr President on behalf of the entire team while also assuring that their commitment to the country will continue to soar higher.

The Presidential gesture is expected to spur the Nigerian ladies to action in their final FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup Qualifying game against Germany tomorrow at 2pm.

The Nigerian ladies who have already qualified for the World Cup in Germany after emerging as Women’s Afrobasket last year in Cote d’Ivoire.

Their participation in the qualifying tournament in France will serve as part of D’Tigress’ preparations for the global showpiece in September.
