President Bola Tinubu has ended his working vacation in France and departed Paris for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, later on Tuesday.
The President is heading to Lagos to honour the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993, presidential election, ahead of Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebrations on October 1.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola’s legacy at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, on Independence Day.
The statement said the President would also hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos over several days as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for his working vacation, spending one week in London before proceeding to Paris, France.
During his stay in the French capital, the President attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and held meetings with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
He also met with the Chairman of First Holdings, Femi Otedola, on Monday.
The President’s engagements in France also included witnessing the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the construction of a deep seaport in Ogun Waterside and the establishment of a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World, one of the world’s leading ports and logistics operators, plans to invest $7 billion in the projects.
Onanuga said Tinubu would return to Abuja after concluding his political engagements in Lagos.
The President’s return marks the end of his month-long working vacation, during which he combined private engagements with diplomatic and investment-related meetings.
