President Bola Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with Nigeria’s Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock.
The security chiefs arrived at the Villa forecourt and where ushered into the President’s office around 6:01pm.
This is President Tinubu’s first meeting with the Service Chiefs since retired General Christopher Musa was sworn in as Minister of Defence on December 4.
The session comes amid calls for the sack of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle. Critics accuse him of links to terrorist groups, based on leaked reports from his time as Zamfara governor.
No details of the meeting agenda have been released as at press time.
Last month, President Tinubu declared a national security emergency. He ordered new recruits for security agencies and withdrew police from VIPs to strengthen operations.
