President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, Borno State, stating that Nigeria will not succumb to fear and vowing a decisive response.
He made the statement on his X account on Tuesday.
In his message, Tinubu expressed condolences to those who lost their lives and sympathy for the injured during the attacks, while standing in solidarity with the people of Maiduguri in Borno State, during this difficult time.
The president described the attacks as “desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements” seeking to spread fear, noting that these groups are under pressure from the nation’s armed forces and security agencies operating across various theatres.
He commended the bravery of Nigerian troops who successfully repelled coordinated assaults on military positions in the state and emphasised that the military, alongside civilian task forces, will continue to curtail and defeat terrorist activities.
Tinubu also highlighted measures taken to strengthen security, including approving additional equipment and operational support for security forces and directing security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to oversee the situation. Emergency agencies have been instructed to provide proper care for the injured.
“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” he declared, reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting citizens and restoring stability in the region.
