Steinmeier lauds Tinubu’s ongoing economic reforms

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated the administration’s dedication to building a more robust and fruitful relationship between Germany and Nigeria.
Tinubu underlined the value of establishing strong ties that benefit both countries while speaking at a bilateral meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja.
Nigeria’s openness to international commercial collaborations was emphasised by the president, who also gave assurance that ongoing economic reforms were intended to foster an atmosphere that would attract foreign investment.
He cited similar encounters earlier in the day as proof of the desire of German and Nigerian business leaders and policymakers to further their partnership.
Tinubu emphasised the initiatives his government is taking to improve corporate rankings and provide frameworks for shared prosperity. He expressed hope for enhancing interpersonal relationships as well as government-level economic opportunity facilitation.
Speaking during a joint press conference at the end of the bilateral meetings, he said, “It was a very good bilateral discussion.

“I could see from the previous meeting, earlier meeting today, that our businessmen and policymakers are very anxious to do business with Germany.
“Mine is to continue to give you assurances that our business doors are open and reforms are working very well. These business rankings, that’s what we have discussed.
“We plan to strengthen the relationship and build a partnership that is fulfilling and rewarding to the two countries, people-to-people relationships, and government-to-government facilitation of opportunities and prosperity,” Tinubu said.
While praising President Tinubu’s leadership and the tenacity of the Nigerian people, President Steinmeier praised the country’s ongoing economic changes. The German leader also promised to help the Nigerian government alleviate the impact of the country’s economic problems and improve the country’s economy even further. According to Steinmeier, who drew on Germany’s experience during a prior economic crisis, resolve and bravery are key factors in achieving economic change in any country.
“It is not easy. It was the experience in Germany many years ago when Germany was in a deep economic crisis. You need a lot of courage and perseverance; that would be to the benefit of your country.
“I myself and everybody in German politics are following your courageous steps, and we will support you.
“Germany will support you on the ongoing reforms in Nigeria,” Steinmeier added.
