President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm the appointment of Prof Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This was contained in a letter to the Senate on Tuesday, which was read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

The Council of State last week confirmed Amupitan as the replacement of Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud, whose two-term tenure had elapsed.
After reading the letter in plenary, the Senate President referred it to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action.
