Tinubu appoints Fayose REA chairman, names 25 others to federal agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and leadership of 10 federal agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency.

The appointments, which take immediate effect, were announced on Monday in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the Presidency, Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors. The board will also include the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (retd.) as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, with eight other members named into the commission.

Former member of the House of Representatives, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were named commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Other members appointed into the commission are Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode.

The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, the immediate past Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

In another set of appointments, Dr Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission, while Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.

Tinubu also approved the appointment of Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal.

The President further constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

Also appointed was Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, succeeding Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier redeployed to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund.

Gisaor Vincent Iorja was equally named Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue his governorship ambition in Benue State.

The Presidency said all the appointments take immediate effect.
