Tinubu appoints 8 special advisers

•Oyewumi applauds Adedeji’s appointment

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of eight new Special Advisers.

A statement by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information, State House in Abuja, yesterday, said the appointments are with immediate effect.

He said Mr. Dele Alake is the special adviser, Special Duties, Communications and Strategy; Mr. Yau Darazo, special adviser, Political and Intergovernmental Affairs; Wale Edun, special adviser, Monetary Policies, while Mrs Olu Verheijen becomes the Special Adviser, Energy.

Oladunjoye said Mr Zachaeus Adedeji is special adviser, Revenue and Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, special adviser, Security.

He added that Mr. John Uwajumogu is the Special Adviser, Industry, Trade and Investment, while Dr Salma Anas is the special adviser, Health.

This is the second appointment of aides by Tinubu since he assumed office on May 29. The first was that of Mr Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff, Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Sen. Ibrahim Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff.

On June 7, senate  approved the request of President Tinubu to appoint 20 special advisers (SAs).

Tinubu’s request was read by the then Senate President Ahmad Lawan on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

In the request to the Senate, the President did not list who the 20 Special advisers are.

Meanwhile, a member of the National Governing Board of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Prince Kunle Oyewumi has applauded President Tinubu for appointing Mr Adedeji.

Describing the newly appointed presidential aide as a seasoned technocrat with cross-national and multi-sector experience, the Ogbomoso Prince stressed that the choice of Adedeji is good for the nation. While urging Adedeji to deploy his professional expertise in his new role, he noted that the renewed hope agenda of Mr President has started yielding positive results.

In a statement, the member of the Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council (ICC), acknowledged the remarkable antecedents of Adedeji in the private and public sectors, adding that the new appointee will live up to expectations.

“The appointment of Mr Zacheaus Adedeji as Special Adviser to the President on Revenue is highly commendable.

“The new appointee has the capacity to complement the efforts of Mr President in repositioning the country.

“Adedeji is a thoroughbred and cerebral financial expert with unbeatable track records.

“He will bring to bear his vast experience on his new role”.

Oyewumi wished Adedeji a successful tenure in office.
