It was celebration galore on the life of former governor of Ogun State, Chief Segun Osoba, yesterday at the public presentation of his latest book, ‘’Segun Osoba, My Life in the public eye.”
Chief Osoba clocked 85 amid eulogies from his political associates, friends, and well wishers.
In attendance were the creme de la creme, President Bola Tinubu, governors, Senators, captains of industry, academics, political gladiators, among others, who eulogised his life at 85.
President Tinubu said that his life is a source of inspiration to the younger generation.
Tinubu who was represented by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima said that one of the most important aspects of the life of the statesman is his commitment to Nigeria’s diversity and unity, noting that his contributions to politics are remarkable.
Tinubu used the ocassion to urge Nigerians to support his government as conscious measures are being taken to tackle the current harsh situation.
His words: “I am honoured to join in the public presentation of Osoba’s book. Osoba is a notable figure in our country having excelled in various fields.
“In his journalism career, he achieved great success. His contributions to politics are remarkable. He served as governor of Ogun State twice and left a lasting impact on the life of his people.
“One of his notable achievements was his role as a leading figure in the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO, while he fought for democracy alongside others.
“We owe him a depth of gratitude for his sacrifices. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for documenting his journey and experiences. His life will be a source of inspiration for generations to come.

“If Osoba achieved his goals through hard work, determination and perseverance, then there is hope for others to do the same.
“As we celebrate Osoba’s birthday, I am grateful that he has remained healthy and hearty. I will like to highlight one important aspect of his life, his commitment to Nigeria’s diversity and unity.
“This is a vital lesson for our nation, particularly during these challenging times. As we work to overcome our current challenges, we must remember that unity and cooperation are essential.
“Our people must support our administration and help us to better living conditions for all. We are taking steps to address food shortages by temporarily removing tariffs on imported grains and other food items.
“We will continue to drive local production and ensure that we produce what we eat and use locally.”
Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote said that Osoba is a man of integrity and very transparent.
“He is a man you can trust and I always consult him on national issues.” he noted.
Former UN Secretary General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, described him as a dedicated and committed Nigerian, who had a distinguished career in journalism.
Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun also described him as a true leader with phenomenal memory.
All the distinguished personalities that spoke pointed to one thing: Osoba’s transparency, honesty, dedication to the Nigerian project, successful journalism career, visionary, commitment to good governance, among other virtues.
The roll call of personalities at the event include: Former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; SGF, George Akume; former Lagos State governor and ex-Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola; Ayo Opadekun, Yomi Edu, Niyi Adebayo, Chief Alex Duduyemi, Joseph Sanusi, Oba Otudeko, Kayode Fayemi, Dr Bayo Kuku, Sam Amuka, Maiden Ibru, and Niyi Adebayo.
In his response, Osoba, while thanking the guests present, said that Nigerians should not lose hope as there is light at the end of the tunnel.
