Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Political Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, has accused the current administration of handing over Nigeria’s sovereignty to the United States, alleging that the country is being reduced to what he described as an “American colony.”
Speaking on Friday during an appearance on ARISE News, Baba-Ahmed said the Tinubu administration has effectively handed over critical aspects of Nigeria’s independence to Washington.
“It appears this administration has handed over Nigeria to America. They have denigrated Nigeria, pitched us against each other and virtually turned Nigeria into a colony,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed, who previously served as a presidential adviser on political matters, argued that the recent document demanding ban and some outragious polices on Nigeria should be rejected.
According to him, Nigeria government should not tolerate such demands, and Tinubu should tell the Americans openly that Nigeria is a sovereign nation.
“We should demand that our president says to the Americans openly that there are limits to what this relationship should involve.”
