Lace has been around in the fashion scene from time immemorial. It does not only feature in the usual traditional wears, but it’s experiencing global transformation, shifting from formal wears such as iro and buba, into versatile everyday statement pieces.
Designers are mixing lace with different fabrics like denim, leathers and making them into different timeless, romantic pieces.
Whether it shows up in dress tops, gowns, or skirts, it carries a quiet sophistication that never goes out of style.
There are also different types of lace fabrics used for traditional ceremonies, weddings, and parties. The most popular types include Guipure, Cord, Swiss voile, Chantilly, and Dry laces.
Other types of laces are Alencon, known as “Queen of lace”, Rachel, Samosa, Pom pom, Tassel/fringe, and Crochet lace among several others.
