Some suspected political thugs have attacked journalists in Idembia, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The journalists were ambushed while traveling in a branded official vehicle to cover an event organized by Chief Ifeanyi Nworie, who was formally returning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after leaving the All Progressives Congress (APC) last year.

According to reports, the attackers were allegedly led by a local government lawyer. While the suspects searched for fuel to set the vehicle ablaze, the driver managed to maneuver away and escape.
The assailants, numbering over 50, wore T-shirts bearing the picture of a serving senator. The political event was originally scheduled to take place at a roadside village square, but suspected thugs stormed the venue and disrupted it. Although the organizer attempted to relocate the gathering to his private compound, the attackers blocked access roads and targeted attendees.
Notably, over 20 armed policemen were present at the original playground venue where the program was initially billed to hold.
