Three Nigerian women identified only as Precious, Gift and Joy, have been arrested in connection with trafficking of illicit drugs, including cocaine and MDMA, by police in the northern Indian city of Gurgaon.

Times of India reported that the trio were arrested after the arrest of Indian national, Adarsh Sahu on Saturday following a tip-off about his alleged supply of drugs.

Sahu, of Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly caught with 26 grams of MDMA, a psychoactive drug often sold under the names “ecstasy” or “molly”.

Under interrogation, Sahu was said to have confessed to procuring the drugs from Precious and Gift, who resided in Delhi.

Both women were subsequently picked up by police near Bakhtawar Chowk, leading to the alleged recovery of 39 grams of MDMA.

Upon further questioning of the suspects, the officers got a tip-off to a rented apartment in Khanpur Extension, Delhi, where another Nigerian, Joy, was found.

A raid of the premises by the police led to the recovery of 22 grams of white MDMA, three grams of brown MDMA, and 9 grams of cocaine, along with an electronic weighing scale, packaging materials, and mobile phones.

The accused have been remanded in police custody for further interrogation to uncover other members of the international drug network.
