The Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM) has raised the alarm over a fresh attack on Torok community in Rim Village, Riyom Local Government Area, in which three people were killed.

National Publicity Secretary of the association, Rwang Tengwong, said the attack occurred at about 5:23 p.m. on Wednesday.

He identified the victims as Ezekiel Zakka, David Yakubu and Dauda Habila.

In a statement he signed and made available to our correspondent on Thursday, the BYM publicity secretary strongly condemned the attack on the community and extended the association’s deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Torok and the entire Berom Nation.

The statement said, “This latest massacre is another painful reminder of the worsening security situation facing Berom communities.

“It is deeply disturbing that innocent citizens continue to be killed while the perpetrators repeatedly evade arrest and justice.

“The continued attacks on our communities are no longer isolated incidents but a clear pattern that demands urgent and decisive intervention.

“BYM calls on the security agencies to immediately launch a comprehensive manhunt for the perpetrators of this heinous crime who came from the Fulani Settlement at Bangai, ensure their arrest, and prosecute them in accordance with the law. Anything short of this will only embolden criminal elements to continue their campaign of terror against innocent communities.

“We further call on the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to move beyond routine condemnations and take concrete, coordinated action to protect vulnerable communities across Riyom Local Government Area and other parts of Plateau State. This should include strengthened intelligence gathering, sustained deployment of security personnel to identified flashpoints, and the dismantling of criminal hideouts from which these attacks are being launched.”

While reiterating that every Nigerian has a constitutional right to life and security, BYM also urged the people to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence, and continue to conduct themselves within the confines of the law.

“We will continue to advocate relentlessly for justice for the victims, the arrest and prosecution of the attackers, and lasting peace and security across Berom land,” the statement added.
