Three injured as bandits attack Garun Mallam town in Kano

Three people were injured by  gunshots following a foiled kidnap attack in Garun Mallam town, in Garun Mallam LGAof Kano State on Saturday.

A statement issued by the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Sunday, said that those injured included Yusif Nasiru, Salisu Garba and Ibrahim Hassan.

The statement confirmed the unsuccessful attempt to kidnap  Alhaji Yusif Nadabo, the Sarkin Noman Kano, adding that the traditional title holder was eventually abandoned by the following a chase by the police.

“The Police, in collaboration with members of the community, gave the hoodlums a hot chase. Consequently, the bandits abandoned the kidnapped victim and fled the scene. Yusif Nadabo was rescued unhurt’ the statement said. .

“The three victims were immediately rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital along with the rescued victim for medical attention” the statement held.

The statement said that a manhunt has been launched to arrest the fleeing perpetrators while adding that  investigation into the incident was already ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commends the prompt response of the Police teams and appreciated residents of Garun Mallam and neighboring areas, members of Vigilante and Neighborhood Watch Corps for their vigilance, bravery and cooperation, which greatly assisted the Police in the rescue operation.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain calm and continue to provide credible information that will aid in the arrest of the culprits while reiterating its commitment to protecting lives and property across the State.
