Three feared killed as robbers attack banks in Ekiti

Three persons have been reported killed when a gang of armed robbers attacked two branches of two commercial banks in Ikere-Ekiti, Ikere Local Government of Ekiti State

According to an eyewitness , the robbers attacked the banks located in different areas of the town killing an Okada rider and two other persons and carted away an undisclosed amount of money.

It was gathered that the robbers who were heavily armed stormed the area around 4:00 pm on a motorcycle and a car and started shooting sporadically.

The eyewitness said the robbers first attacked one of the banks along Ado- Ikere road before going to the other located along Ikere -Iju- Itaogholu road.

The eyewitness added, the robbers upon entering the premises of the banks gained entry into the halls of the banks after they blew up the bulletproof doors. The robbery operation was not interrupted by any security agent before the robbers escaped from the town.

The unfortunate incident caused pandemonium in the town as residents, commuters, motorcyclists ran for their lives.

Phone calls made to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, to comment on the development, were not successful.
