Three people are confirmed dead and 13 others rescued after the collapse of a building in the Kwanar Yashi area of Fagge LGA in Kano State.
Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the tragedy in a statement on Saturday.
He listed the deceased as Affan Yusuf, Hassana Yusuf, and Ummulkursum Yusuf, ages 5 years, 6 years, and nine months, respectively.
The survivors, according to him, included Al-Mustapha Yusuf, 15; Ummusalama Yusuf, 10; Hafsat Yusuf, 9; Khadija Yusuf, 7; and Madina Yusuf, 6.

He added that eight victims, whose names could not be immediately ascertained, were equally rescued alive.
“All the victims were handed over to Usman Ibrahim, the brother of the victims’ father, for further attention,” he said.
The cause of the incident is currently under investigation, he added.
The Service urged members of the public to observe all necessary safety precautions, particularly during the rainy season, to prevent similar incidents.
