Three Senegalese football fans detained in Morocco have been released following a royal pardon, authorities confirmed on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The supporters, who had been held in connection with incidents involving visiting fans, were granted clemency and subsequently freed.

Their release marks a partial resolution to a situation that had drawn attention from both Senegal and Moroccan officials in recent days.

Before returning home to Dakar, the trio made a spiritual stop in Fez, where they visited a Tijaniyya Sufi lodge, a significant religious center for followers of the Tijaniyya brotherhood across West Africa.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to secure the release of other detained Senegalese nationals.

A formal request for a royal pardon has been submitted on their behalf, with diplomatic channels actively engaged to resolve the matter.

Officials from both countries are expected to continue discussions as pressure mounts for the remaining detainees to benefit from similar clemency.
