TGI Group has won two awards at the recently held 9th edition of Lagos PR Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA) 2024.
The event with theme, ‘The Shining Stars’, was a gathering of strategic integrated marketing communications industry stakeholders from corporate, private, and public sectors organised by the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
TGI Group won two awards at the event; Best Supporter of Public Relations (PR), while its Head, Corporate Communications, Rafiat Gawat clinched the ‘Public Relations shining star of the Year’, the award category which had the highest entry of 11 nominees, for her distinctive enterprise, professionalism and enviable industry rising profile. She was also one of the top three nominees for the PR professional of the year category, an award recognizing PR practitioners who have shown remarkable performance and contributed to the development of the industry. TGI Group was also among the top three nominees for the sustainability PR category.
The ceremony had 22 award categories and 81 entries were submitted in 21 categories, with the ‘Best in Political Communication’ not having any submission for this edition. Gawat commended the organisers whilst urging all awards nominees to sustain the standard of excellence. “I want to thank the Lagos NIPR for organizing the LaPRIGA Awards and recognizing TGI Group and other winners. These awards highlight the importance of celebrating excellence in our industry. These two recognitions are dedicated to every member of the TGI Group family for your unmatchable support, sacrifice and dedication that earned these enviable honours. You are indeed heroes of these honours because we are only able to amplify what you do,” Gawat said.
Speaking also, the awards organizer and Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR Lagos Chapter), Comfort Obot Nwankwo, congratulated all the winners for their recognition as shining stars and urge them to be an inspiration to others while sustaining the momentum of success, character, and bravery.
“As we honour our shining stars tonight, let us reflect on our collective responsibilities and use our influence to advance inclusivity and sustainability in Public Relations. I challenge each of you to champion youth involvement, prioritize community breeding narratives and uphold highest standard of integrity in all that you do. The LaPRIGA Awards 2024, is one of the many honours bestowed on TGI Group. It won the ‘Agro Allied Services Category’ of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) Annual Employers’ Excellence Awards 2024 and 2023; One of the Group’s subsidiaries, West African Soy Industries Limited (WASIL) won ‘Industry Leader in Soybean Award’ at the 2023 Afro World Agri Food Conference, Exhibition, and Awards.
At the 2021 Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) People First and Safety Awards, TGI Group won the ‘People First Safety Award for Organisations’; just as the Group’s Group Managing Director, Rahul Savara was awarded the ‘People First CEO Award; and at the 2020 NECA Employers’ Excellence Awards, TGI Group won the ‘Best and Responsible Practice in Agro & Agro Allied Services’.
