The seeming endless wave of terrorists’ activities continued in Katsina on Thursday with the killing of two residents of Maibakko community, Sabuwa Local Government Area. A statement by the Katsina Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said suspected terrorists swooped on the village in a midnight attack, killing two persons.

“Police operatives responded to the scene where a fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the foiling of the kidnap attempt and successful rescue of 13 victims,” the statement said, adding that,  “unfortunately, the bandits shot and killed two persons and injured one.

“The rescued victims, who were not harmed, have been reunited with their families. “Efforts are being intensified to ensure the rescue of the other victims and arrest of the perpetrators.”

The incident comes on the heels of a similar attack on Thursday at the Tsiga community, Bakori Local Government Area, during which the terrorists abducted a former NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga (retd).

The PPRO said Tsiga was kidnapped alongside five other residents and assured that “efforts are being intensified in collaboration with sister security agencies and all relevant stakeholders to ensure their rescue.”
