Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Friday received the Governor of The Year Award on Digital Economy and Skills Acquisition from the New Telegraph Newspapers, with a promise to continue his transformation of the state.
Among the dignitaries present to present the award to him was the publisher of the newspaper, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North in the Senate.
Receiving the award on behalf of Uzodimma, the state Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon Declan Emelumba, described the award as an endorsement of the transparent, accountable and transformative leadership of the governor.
He noted that the governor was barely two years in office when The Sun Newspaper voted him the governor of the year, followed closely by Vanguard Newspapers, which named him the Infrastructure Governor of the Year.
“This year, Telegraph newspaper has honoured him with the Governor of The Year Award on Digital Economy and Skills Acquisition. Only yesterday, Leadership Newspapers also bestowed him with the Governor of the Year,” he enthused.

He disclosed that an international magazine has also penciled the Imo State Governor for another award later in the year, saying that the strings of honour were well earned.
He said what made the awards most exciting was that they were not solicited but came about through verified achievements of Uzodimma.
Emelumba said the evidence of the governor’s achievements was there in Imo State for people to see and authenticate.
New Telegraph, in a letter to the governor, had explained thus: “We have carefully monitored your diligent implementation of your broad-based developmental projects since your assumption of office since 2020. We have followed your giant strides in infrastructure, aviation development, workers’ welfare, and numerous other fields of human endeavour. But we are mostly thrilled by your emphatic focus on youths and workers of the state in the areas of digital economy and skills acquisition.”
