When most visitors plan to come into Lagos, particularly Diasporan Nigerians, most still assume they are coming to meet the Lagos of yore. Meanwhile, Lagos of today has evolved with a whole lot more exciting things to discover. In a bid to capture the evolution and beauty of this city on water for the good of everyone, a notable Lagos architect, Teju Ajayi has begun a pre-production plan for a six-part documentary titled ‘Discover Lagos’.
The documentary, a groundbreaking project, aims to present the vibrant culture, rich history, and untold narratives of Lagos through the unique perspectives of diasporan experiences. Using a captivating storytelling and stunning visuals, the docu-series will delve into various facets of Lagos including its historical significance, cultural landmarks, picturesque beachfront, and beach houses. It will also showcase Lagos’ thriving art galleries, an efficient transport system, bustling markets, and innovative modern developments.
Ajayi, speaking on the docu-series, said beyond everything, ‘Discover Lagos’ will be a guide for Diasporan Nigerians and other visitors who yearn to reconnect with Lagosian roots and seek recommendations for leisurely visits. It will serve as an all-encompassing guide to exploring everything the bustling city has to offer.
Already, the producers are in talks with relevant ministries in Lagos to ensure that the storytelling was right and tight. Upon conclusion of production, ‘Discover Lagos’ will be made available on various streaming platforms as some of them have shown interest in exhibiting the innovative docu-series due to be premiered by December 2024.
