Teenager docked over alleged trespass, attempted theft

The Police on Wednesday arraigned a 17-year-old boy in a Karu Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, over alleged trespass and attempted theft.

The teenager, who resides at Karu, Abuja, is facing a two-count charge of criminal trespass and attempted theft, offences he denied committing.

The prosecutor, Edwin Ochanyi, told the court that one Kefas Habila of Old Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on May 5.

According to him, the complainant alleged that on the same date, the defendant entered his apartment at the above address and started searching the rooms with the intent to steal.

He said that the teenager was apprehended and handed over to the police.

Ochayi said that the offences contravened Sections 348 and 95 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until June 18 for hearing.
