In a bold move to transform Nasarawa State into a technology powerhouse akin to the famed Silicon Valley, His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule, unveiled plans for a groundbreaking Tech Hub in Aso Pada.
The initiative, inspired by the Governor’s exposure to innovation centers during his tenure with the Dangote Group, promises to reshape the state’s economic landscape.
For years, Nasarawa has grappled with limited financial resources, often ranking among the lowest in federal allocations. Despite these challenges, Governor Sule envisions a future where Nasarawa becomes a beacon of technological innovation, propelled by the intellect and dedication of its people.
“The idea of the technology village came to me when I was with the Dangote Group, and we used to go to Seattle,” Governor Sule reminisced during the commissioning ceremony.
“I saw the opportunity of a situation like Nasarawa State, a state with very committed and dedicated people. Very intelligent people who, if given the opportunity, we could be another Silicon Valley.”
The Tech Hub, poised to be the nucleus of Nasarawa’s tech revolution, marks the first step towards realizing this ambitious vision. With the commissioning of Phase 1 and the announcement of Phase 2, anticipation brews among locals eager to witness the transformation firsthand.
In a resounding display of solidarity and commitment to technological advancement, dignitaries from across the nation converged at the Nasarawa Technology Village Housing Estates, Karu.
Led by Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umaru Zulum at the event marked a pivotal moment in Nasarawa’s journey towards becoming a technology hub of global significance.
The commissioning of the first phase of the Nasarawa Technology Village Housing Estates, comprising 100 housing units, symbolizes the state’s dedication to providing modern and sustainable living spaces for its citizens.
Zulum commended Governor Sule for initiating the project adding that the projects holds great promise as it will help the state leverage its abundant mineral resources to fuel innovation and technological advancements
Situated within the burgeoning Technology Village, these homes represent the fusion of innovation and comfort, a testament to Nasarawa’s vision for inclusive development.
However, the festivities did not end there. With unwavering determination, the esteemed guests proceeded to lay the foundation for the Technology Hub and the second phase of the Housing Project. Spanning a vast 67-hectare expanse along the Mararaba-Aso Pada axis of Karu LGA, this ambitious endeavor promises to redefine the socio-economic landscape of the region.
Nasarawa’s populace, known for its resilience and industrious spirit, embraces the prospect of a technology-driven future. “This initiative is a game-changer for our state,” remarked Fatima Abdullahi, a young entrepreneur based in Lafia. “It’s about time we harness our potential and create opportunities for our youth.”
While optimism pervades the air, some voices of caution urge prudence in execution. “Building a Tech Hub is commendable, but sustaining it requires careful planning and long-term investment,” remarked Ibrahim Musa, a seasoned economist from Keffi. “We need to ensure that infrastructure, education, and support systems are in place to nurture innovation and attract investment.”
As Nasarawa embarks on this transformative journey, the echoes of Governor Sule’s vision resonate across the state. With determination and perseverance, Nasarawa aims to carve its niche in the annals of technological advancement, setting the stage for a brighter, more prosperous future.
