Taylor Swift: Singer cancels Vienna concert over terrorist attack plot

Taylor Swift’s fans will not be seeing her perform in Vienna, Austria just yet as her Eras Tour shows have been cancelled following confirmation of an alleged ISIS-linked terrorist plot to attack large events.

Per foreign media reports, the organisers made the announcement on Wednesday, disclosing that the terrorist plot was confirmed by government officials.

Barracuda Music, the concerts’ organiser, said in an online post: “With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety.”

The concert cancellation comes on the heels of the arrest of two suspected extremists in Austria over the weekend.

Authorities revealed that one of them was planning an attack on a major event in Vienna in areas where Swift’s concert was scheduled to take place.

Sources with knowledge of the incident said the two persons are linked to ISIS, with the information about the suspects taken from US intelligence.

The prime suspect is a 19-year-old who was apprehended in Ternitz, south of Vienna, and the second individual in the Austrian capital.

Swift’s Eras Tour shows were set for Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Given the latest development, all tickets will be refunded within 10 business days, as revealed by the shows’ ticket vendor in Austria.
