The Zamfara State Government has begun capacity training for 50 trainers and facilitators on the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) curriculum as part of its commitment to advancing education in the state.
This was disclosed by the Zamfara State Coordinator of the TaRL project, Hajiya Zuwaira Abdu Gusau, at the weekend during the opening ceremony of the training held at the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB) headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.
She said, “First and foremost, we sincerely appreciate the government of Zamfara State for its continued commitment to strengthening the education sector, particularly in the area of foundational literacy and numeracy.
“The government’s support has created an enabling environment for innovative learning approaches such as Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) to thrive.”
The TaRL State Coordinator, who is also the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Agency for Mass Education, recognised the invaluable technical support and partnership of TaRL Africa and equally expressed deep appreciation to the donor partner, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), for its generous financial support for the programme.

In his remarks, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, said the programme came at the right time, as it would ensure that pupils receive teaching suited to their learning level.
The commissioner urged the participants to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained to promote educational development in the state.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasiru Garba Anka, disclosed that the programme signified the board’s commitment to improving education in the state.
“This programme will enhance children’s learning ability and improve their capacity to read and write. It is our continued commitment that no child will be denied access to quality education in the state,” he assured.
