Taraku Mills Limited is set to resume production after years of inactivity, with rehabilitation of the first phase of the facility now more than 80 per cent completed.
Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), Raymond Asemakaha, disclosed this during an inspection of the mill, assuring that its Golden Oil and other products would begin rolling out ahead of the Yuletide season.
Asemakaha, who received briefings from the technical team handling the rehabilitation, expressed confidence that the plant would soon become operational.
To accelerate the process, he directed the immediate supply of three truckloads of soybeans to enable the technical team to commence purification and blasting preparatory to full production.
He said competent partners had also been secured to manage the production and commercial operations of the mill when it becomes operational.
Asemakaha said the revival of Taraku Mills would strengthen Benue’s agricultural value chain by providing a ready market for farmers, increasing local processing of agricultural produce and creating jobs.
He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for supporting the rehabilitation, saying the administration remained committed to reviving moribund industries and expanding employment opportunities in the state.
Plant Manager, James Ikyuve, confirmed that maintenance work on the first phase had exceeded 80 per cent and said the plant was ready for blasting once the required raw materials were supplied.
Lead Consultant, Saleh Mansury, said the first plant was technically ready to commence operations and was awaiting raw materials.
“Technically, we’re ready. All parts are ready. We are only waiting for materials. In the next few weeks, we will commence production and give Benue people the Golden Oil,” Mansury said.
