Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has commended the Nigerian Super Eagles, on making the finals at the ongoing AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire.

In a statement issued on Thursday morning in Jalingo and signed by the SA Media and Digital Communication to the Governor, Honorable Emmanuel Bello, Kefas said the win over South Africa, Wednesday was yet again a demonstration of the expertise of the team. He lauded team members dedication to planning and their skills that improves match after match.

The governor urge the Super Eagles to go all the way and win the contest, stressing that the nation is behind them in the quest.

He noted further that sports have become a veritable tool for integration and national cohesion. Accordingly, Gov Kefas said he is committed to sports development in the state as a vehicle to meaningfully engage the youths and tap into potentials.

“Let me join Nigerians to congratulate our Super Eagles for making us so proud at the ongoing AFCON. Tonights well deserved victory is what most of us will relish for a long time. At a time that things have become unbearably difficult for Nigerians, such a win means more than mere football fortunes. It reinkendles our hope as a Nation and gives the assurance that, there is indeed, light at the end of the tunnel.

“As we celebrate, I urge all Nigerians, irrespective of sectional affiliations, to jointly pray for the ultimate victory of the team. I also pray that the unity we all have in football will break the barriers of sectionalism that has held us back for so long and put us in the strength of one United and indivisible nation that we should be,” the statement reads in part.
