Sylvanus Viashima, Jalingo
Ahead of tomorrow’s Governorship election, the Governorship candidate of the People’s Redemption Party, (PRP) in Taraba State, Engr Josiah Wukari Wasa has denied reports that he has collapsed his party structure in support of another political party.
Wasa, who stated this on Friday at a press conference in Jalingo, insisted that the party was going to the Saturday polls with confidence to win the election, form a government and restore the lost glory of the state.
He acknowledged that some party members have chosen to pitch their tents with other candidates but described their actions as “mischievous, unpatriotic, self-serving, and guided by the spirit of stomach infrastructure, which is contrary to the aims and objectives of the party”.
“At no time in any of our meetings did we resolve to endorse Senator Bwacha or any candidate for governorship. I was asked several times, whether I have stepped down my ambition to contest for the governor of my state for a candidate of another political party. This is becoming one question too many.
“It has become necessary for me to open up on this issue for the purpose of putting it to rest, especially that election is just few hours ahead of us. For this purpose, I wish to state categorically and unequivocally that, PRP, on whose platform I’m contesting for the Governorship position of the state did not collapse its structure in favour of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha or any candidate of any political party.
“I offered myself to serve the good people of Taraba State. I have my agenda and a master plan of how the agenda can be implemented for the good of the people. Then suddenly, someone lurks around, trying to convince you that you should drop your agenda and queue behind him. I don’t think that is a way of politics.
He appealed to the entire people of the State to give him their mandate on Saturday, and promised that “I will not disappoint you. I promise. I will restore the lost glory of the state and put smiles on your faces again. Be rest assured that I have the capacity to do this. Give me your votes and you will be happy you did”.
