The leadership of the Concerned Citizens of Taraba State has expressed dissatisfaction over the lists of candidates that were selected as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship candidates for the forthcoming local government councils in the state.
The state government had earlier set up a special project committee to harmonise a list of consensus candidates that would contest for the positions of chairmen and councillors in the council polls slated for the 18th of this month under the platform of the party.
However, the group, piqued by the development, called on the governor to urgently revisit the list of consensus candidates forwarded to him.
In a statement signed by its coordinator, Abdullahi Ishaya Dominic, the group said such a candidate ought to be acceptable by the youths, elders and women, party stakeholders and the traditional institution.
The statement alleged that the candidates chosen for the upcoming council election, do not meet the requirements that warrant them to be selected as consensus candidates
The group, which proposed that the candidates ought to be people residing in the council and accessible to the people, alleged that the reverse has turned out to be the case.
The group urged the governor to insert the right peg in the right hole before election day.
They also call on the governor to come out and address the people of the state over the decisions on the consensus candidates of the various local government areas.
