As the Muslim Ummah celebrates the end of Ramadan a d mark this year’s Eid-El-Fitr the Taraba State Governor Dr Agbu Kefas has called on the people to imbibe the virtues of religious tolerance and selfless service to foster unity and development.
The Governor said this in a Sallah message issued in Jalingo on Wednesday and signed by Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser Media and Digital Communications to the Governor.
He noted that the Ramadan period offers the adherents of the faith to mediate and rededicate themselves to God through good acts and self discipline and encourage the people to continue these lessons even after Ramadan.
“The lesson of sacrifice and discipline of Ramadan should continue even after the exercise. The nation needs prayers and selfless service by both the leadership and the followership to overcome all the challenges. It is noteworthy that the two main faiths have been celebrating their religious festivals together and this is a good development in view of the relationships that exist between them even at family levels.
“Taraba state is one that is strengthened by the diversities across tribes and faiths. With unity, we can do more in the area of development and progress. My administration will continue to carry everyone along, irrespective of their faiths or ethnicity, in the distribution of the dividends of democracy. My administration is not leaving any stone unturned in the provision of security, and we would continue to battle poverty and hunger to make life easy for all the citizens” he said.
