Tambuwal’s arrest handiwork of political actors – Sokoto PDP

Tambuwal

The Peoples Democratic Party in Sokoto State has spoken against the recent arrest of former governor Aminu Tambuwal, linking it to political actors.

Tambuwal, a serving senator, who governed Sokoto for eight years, was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday and quizzed over alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.

Reacting in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinnawal, on Tuesday, the Sokoto PDP alleged that Tambuwal’s arrest was the work of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The statement said the move was part of the APC’s plan to intimidate political opponents and weaken growing opposition to the present administration.

“The so-called investigation is nothing more than a fishing expedition, revived from an old phantom case that has failed to produce evidence in the past.

“It is the handiwork of political actors in Sokoto and Abuja who are desperate to smear Tambuwal’s enviable image and force him to abandon his stand against misrule,” the statement reads partly.
