From Okey Sampson, Aba
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has harped on the need for Nigerians to unite and be their brothers’ keeper in the interest of the country.
This was even as he lauded the developmental strides of Dr. Victor Okezie Ikpeazu since he became Abia governor.
Tambuwal, former speaker of the House of Representatives gave the commendation when he commissioned roads in Aba. The road projects included Ehere, Umuojima Road (renamed after former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Chima Nwafor), as well as the Umuocham-Umule-Umuehilegbu Road.
Tambuwal commended the governor for managing the money available to him judiciously and for being able to complete the road projects, which, according to him, would go a long way in alleviating the plight of the people of the state.
He further called on the people of the state to continue to support Governor Ikpeazu’s administration in order to deliver more dividends of democracy.
On his part, Ikpeazu disclosed that most of the roads were designed to create access to strategic markets in Aba with a view to enhancing the economic development of the state.
Dr. Ikpeazu also added he was working hard to intervene on the Port Harcourt Road.
He said paucity of funds will not deter him from working in the interest of the state.
The governor disclosed he had opened discussions with his Akwa Ibom State, Emmanuel Udom on how to rehabilitate the deplorable road from Aba to Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom Sate and added that with time, his government will construct a pedestrian flyover in Aba.
He thanked his Sokoto State counterpart for coming to commission the roads.
