The Tabitha-Abimbola Foundation, a Lagos-based Non Governmental Organisation focused on empowering impoverished women and children is set to launch in Lagos on July 10 as it celebrate its first anniversary.
The foundation which was founded by broadcast journalist and philanthropist Abimbola Agbebiyi, says their mission is to provide essential resources for these individuals to thrive, promote education and healthcare access in underserved communities.
Agbebiyi said one of their flagship initiatives, ‘Project FEED’ has already distributed food and cash to families in Lagos. She said they go beyond handouts by offering skills training (teaching people “how to fish”) to promote self-reliance through ‘Project L.E.A.R.N’ a ‘Street2School’ initiative which provides free education and materials to underprivileged children. She said they are committed to empowering vulnerable populations in Lagos through various social programs.
The official launch and first anniversary will be held on July 10th in Lagos and will include the unveiling of their new office space and celebration of the foundation’s growth and impact. The theme for the celebration is “Inspiring Hope, Transforming Lives.”
Public Relations Officer for the Foundation, Samiat Ishola, said: “Our mission is to create a world where regardless of their background or circumstances, the underprivileged can have access to essential resources and support to thrive and reach their full potential.
“We are committed to upholding the principles of charity and social justice in our work as we strive to make these positive impacts by also promoting education and healthcare access in underserved communities, one family at a time, until our impact is felt across Nigeria and beyond its shores.
“The foundation which started out on the 25th of June 2023, embarked on a mission to combat the scourge of poverty which has continued to limit the potentials of women. This has recorded huge success as it presently boasts of 40 indigent people who are currently beneficiaries of its empowerment scheme tagged ‘Project Feed.’
“Under this project, the foundation has distributed food items and cash gifts to many families in three major communities in Lagos with the recent capturing vulnerable individuals and families from Makoko, Ogudu and Egbeda areas of the state to cushion the effects of the current economic situation of the country on the people.
“It is our desire to uplift more children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by offering them not only free education but also providing them with educational materials to aid learning. All of these form part of our success story as the official launch of the Foundation approaches.”
