A suspected human trafficker, one Gift Confidence, has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command.
The 28-year-old suspect was arrested at Ughelli area of the state after allegedly luring a 15-year-old girl, one Ejiro Etu, out of the country.
Mother of the victim had informed the police that, on January 5, her daughter was taken away to an unknown place by the suspect, adding that her whereabouts had remained unknown.
Parading the suspect after her arrest, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, said she would be charged to court after investigation.
But the suspect said she is a friend to the victim, who she insisted, left the country with her boyfriend to Mali of her own accord, adding that nobody lured or forced her to embark on the journey.
