Security operatives have arrested one Ashiru Abubakar, a suspected informant accused of supplying information to bandits operating around the Romo community in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Abubakar of Gumfa Gebe village in Wamakko Local Government Area was allegedly working with bandits in Tambuwal.
He was linked to a threat issued to residents of Romo, who were asked to pay N10 million or risk an attack.

Confirming the arrest on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Sokoto, Ahmed Rufai said the suspect has been charged to court.
Rufai said the suspect’s arrest and prosecution followed an investigation into his alleged links to criminal elements.
The police spokesman said the command would continue to intensify efforts to checkmate individuals aiding criminal activists in the state.
