Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested a suspected bandit, Mohammed Isah Haruna, at Rimaye village in Bichi Local Government .
The arrest, which was made on Saturday, July 12, 2026, led to the recovery of an AK-47 magazine, 109 rounds of ammunition and suspected fake military uniforms.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence provided by a member of the public.
He said a search of the suspect’s bag led to the recovery of one AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition, 79 additional rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two sets of suspected military uniforms, three military caps, one suspected fake military identity card, one National Identity Card, one NIN slip, one voter’s card, four ATM cards and one pair of desert boots.
According to the statement, the suspect confessed during interrogation that he had travelled to the area to deliver the recovered items to bandits operating in the bush.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended members of the Rimaye community for their vigilance and timely information, which led to the arrest.
“This arrest underscores the importance of community partnership in policing. We appreciate the Rimaye community and all law-abiding residents of Kano State for their support. Security is a collective responsibility,” Bakori said.
The command said the suspect remains in police custody while a discreet investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
It added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
