Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have shot and killed a middle-aged woman in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State.
The yet- to- identified woman was reportedly gunned down on Saturday morning by the suspected armed robbers who attempted to rob her .
The incident happened near the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti Continuing Education Center, along NTA Road.in the capital city.
Recall that about three weeks ago, three persons were shot and killed in broad daylight by gunmen at different locations in the metropolis. The police command in the state had last week paraded some suspects in connection with the killings.
According to an eyewitness,” the woman was standing by the road side when the gunmen arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to snatch her hand bag.

” The woman resisted the attempt and the gunmen shot her and immediately fled the scene. She died on the spot.”
The development caused panic in the area as traders, passersby, motorists and other road users ran for safety.
Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ekiti Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, said it was a robbery incident.
Abutu disclosed that the sum of N40,280 was found inside the handbag of the deceased.
He said her body has been deposited at the morgue and the command is on the trail of the criminals
